Make sure your home is secure ready for winter with a cctv system
With the nights drawing in it makes a thief's life easier providing more cover, they can tell if your in just by looking for any lighting inside your home.
So what can you do ?
Firstly you should check any existing light fittings making sure the bulbs are ok and the fitting is operational. If not then think about your key areas that a burglar would use to creep around you home and get them illuminated.
After this you should really consider a discrete CCTV system. These systems are so advanced now you can set them to email you a picture of a perpetrator the moment they are picked up by a camera and you can view the cameras with your phone, tablet or pc.
CCTV acts as a great early warning system and deterrent after they see you've got one they will probably go elsewhere.

Solar Panels - South Facing Vs East / West
Solar Panels - Which Way should they Face ?
Case Study:
We fitted these 2 systems last year
read on to see which one works best and see the data for yourself.
4 Kw Facing South
2 Kw Facing West (4 Kw Split system) 2 Kw Facing East
The photo's above show 2 different 4kw solar pv systems, the top one has all 4kw facing South and the bottom shows a system which has 2kw facing East & 2kw facing West.
Both of the above systems have 16 x Eging 250 watt Polycrystalline panels connected to 16 x Enphase micro inverters. One house faces East/West and the other faces North/South both with
a very similar roof angle and both located in Mansfield Nottinghamshire within 3 miles of each other if that.
The Theory:
South Facing
This system will produce a larger amount of power through the middle of the day.
East / West Facing
This system will switch on earlier produce a lesser amount of energy but over a longer spread of time switching off later in the day than a South facing system.
So which one works the best ?

Conclusion
In this case the South facing system has outperformed the split system by 539 Units of electricity.
Upon close examination of the figures it can be noted that the split system has a very similar output and in May it even outperformed the South facing system by 13 Units.
Even if your home is not facing South you can still benefit from the installation of Solar Pv.

These customers decided they had enough and put their savings to better use. Solar Panels will make you
more money than interest on your savings account and at the same time reduce your electricity bill !!!
The back of this home faces directly south, there is a tall tree at the bottom of their garden which should only hinder performance in winter. Although shading is not a real issue on this job the customers have decided to have Enphase Micro Inverters instead of a traditional string inverter. These have a 20 year guarantee, they monitor each panels performance seperatly and can give upto 20% more performance in some circumstances.
As well as all those benefits you get monthly email performance reports and emails if any panels / inverters stop working.

4kw Solar Pv System East / West
This customers property was facing East so we installed 2kw on the East elevation and the same again on the West elevation. Whilst this system will not have as much power supplied at any one given time compared to
a 4kw South facing system it will produce power over a longer period of the day.
The panels facing East are pointing at the sun as it rises and the panels on the rear of the property will watch the sun go down in the West late into the day.
This system is comprised of 16 Enphase micro inverters connected to 16 x Eging 250 watt solar panels
and can be monitored and reviewed over the internet with automated monthly email reports to the customer on its performance. The great thing is with this type of system is that it will notify you if any of the panels are under performing and the inverters come with a 20 year guarantee as standard.

Since his installation was a while ago Rob has reported that he is really happy with the performance of the system. We managed to fit Rob a 4kw system using just 12 panels instead of the usual 16.

This roof was too small to get 4kw with 16 or more panels. We managed to fit the 320 watt super powerful BenQ Sun Forte panels so we only needed 12 ! These were then connected in 2 strings of 6 to an Eltek Inverter.
For anyone with a smaller roof these panels maximise your production giving you more performance per square metre than most other panels on the market.
